Nongriat

Nongriat is famous for its living root bridges, crafted from the roots of the Indian rubber tree. With deep gorges separating villages, local communities have nurtured these “living” bridges over generations, guiding tree roots across natural pathways. The Double-Decker Living Root Bridge is not to be missed. Reaching it means descending roughly 3,000 steps from Tyrna village, with trails beyond leading to Rainbow Falls and its turquoise pool.

Interesting factThese bridges can take 10–15 years to grow, get stronger each year, may survive up to 500 years, and can support as many as 50 people at a time.
